Even though the Owasso Rams have not done well against the Union Redhawks recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Owasso came out on top against Union by a score of 65-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Owasso.
Owasso found their leader in underclassman Jalen Montonati, who scored 35 points along with six rebounds. The match was Montonati's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cody Lechlider, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Owasso pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Union, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Owasso will square off against Putnam City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Putnam City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Owasso is ranked seventh). Union's road trip will continue as they head out to face Enid at 8:00 p.m. on December 18th.
