Basketball Recap: Chardon Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Chardon won the last time they faced South and things went their way on Saturday too. The Chardon Hilltoppers were the clear victor by a 57-31 margin over the South Rebels. The Hilltoppers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 22 points or more this season.

Cameron Gerlica continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 of 17 en route to 24 points and six boards. Gabby Camino also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Chardon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddie Luciano, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Pennington, who earned nine points.

Chardon has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-9.

Chardon will challenge North at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Chardon surely won't give up without a fight. As for South, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-42 win against Harvey on the 27th.
