Tri-County is 1-9 against Rossville since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cavaliers will face off against the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. Tri-County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
While Tri-County's win against West Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cavaliers had just enough and edged out the Trojans 6-5 on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Grayson Schneider, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Nick Foster also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Tri-County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Central only posted a batting average of .276.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Rossville's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost 12-1 to McCutcheon. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Hornets couldn't push the score so high this time.
Rossville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zac Wainscott, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Tri-County pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rossville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tri-County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Rossville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tri-County skirted past Rossville 1-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
