It may have taken  nine innings to finish the job, but Ventura ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  3-2  win over the San Marcos Royals. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
 Jessie Sebek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  struck out seven batters over  nine innings while giving up just two earned runs off   seven  hits. Sebek was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with one  double.
 In other batting news,  Makayla Halley was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.  Riley Hotzler also deserves some recognition as  she  got her first  hit of the season.
Ventura's record now sits at 7-2. As for San Marcos, their loss was  their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 3-5.
Ventura will have a chance to go back-to-back against San Marcos: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 3:30  p.m.  on Friday.
