The Utopia Buffaloes were the 58-57 winner over the D'Hanis Cowboys when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. Utopia fell to D'Hanis 58-53.
When it comes to explaining why Utopia lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Taylor Wiekamp. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Wiekamp scored a full 35.8% of Utopia's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Trey Mcfarlen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
It was another big night for Gabe Perez, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds for D'Hanis. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruger Cote, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Utopia's loss dropped their record down to 8-8-1. As for D'Hanis, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-6.
Utopia and Brackett will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Brackett is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. D'Hanis will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Comstock at 1:30 p.m. on December 16th.
