After flying high against the Thornwell Saints last Wednesday, the Whitmire Wolverines came back down to earth. Whitmire took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calhoun Falls Charter on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Whitmire in their matchups with Calhoun Falls Charter: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Whitmire saw an underclassman step up: Raylin Vicars scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vicars has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kaileigh Womack, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Whitmire dropped their record down to 2-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Whitmire will head out on the road to challenge McCormick at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McCormick has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Thornwell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Thornwell comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
