The Heights won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were beaten by Paul VI 95-59. While losing is never fun, The Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 189th in Maryland, while the Panthers are ranked first in Virginia).
Even though Our Lady of Good Counsel has not done well against the Stags recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Our Lady of Good Counsel made off with a 64-63 win over the Stags. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Our Lady of Good Counsel as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
The Heights has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-19.
Things could have been worse for The Heights, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 85-70 loss to the Falcons when the teams last played back in January. Can The Heights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
