The Merrill Vandals scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 73-71 victory over Michigan Lutheran Seminary. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Merrill has posted yet this season.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was William Salgat, who scored 31 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Salgat has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Reif, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Merrill and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, they bumped their record down to 5-4 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Merrill will stay at home for another game and welcome Carson City-Crystal at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Michigan Lutheran Seminary won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mayville at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th.
