The Fort Bragg Timberwolves will head out on the road to face off against the Middletown Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fort Bragg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 792nd, while Middletown is ranked 391st).
Last Friday, Fort Bragg got the win against Upper Lake by a conclusive 28-6. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Fort Bragg just coasted through the last quarter.
Alex Nicholson was on fire: he rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 64 yards and a touchdown. Beau Hebden also helped out as he racked up 109 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Middletown had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 42-0 victory over Cloverdale on the road.
Their wins bumped Fort Bragg to 3-4 and Middletown to 5-2.
Fort Bragg came up short against Middletown in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 27-22. Can Fort Bragg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
