Tri-County hasn't had much luck against North Newton recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will square off against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Tri-County is coming into the match hot, having won their last 15 games.
Tri-County came out on top against North Montgomery on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run second inning. The Cavaliers put the hurt on the Chargin' Chargers with a sharp 16-1 win. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Grace Luck made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Sara Zarse was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Bella Dominguez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Tri-County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Montgomery only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, North Newton has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 2.82 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They lost 20-10 to Washington Township. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Rylynn Klemz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of June Busboom, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Tri-County pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for North Newton, their loss dropped their record down to 13-3-1.
