The McDonough Warhawks put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Cedar Grove by a score of 50-41. Given McDonough's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Cedar Grove is ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McDonough to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keenan Gray, who scored 27 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Gray has scored at least 25% of McDonough's points. Zion Greene was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 4 steals.
Despite the defeat, Cedar Grove saw an underclassman step up: Emmanuel Green scored 18 points. The contest was Green's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Scott, who scored 8 points.
McDonough's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Cedar Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
McDonough will head out on the road to face off against Lovett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lovett has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 363 points over their last five games. As for Cedar Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Salem at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
