Last Monday, Argenta-Oreana was the victim of a tough 44-24 defeat at the hands of Cerro Gordo/Bement. Argenta-Oreana has struggled against Cerro Gordo/Bement recently, as their game on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Maroa-Forsyth strolled past Auburn with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 38-23. Given Maroa-Forsyth's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Auburn is ranked 354th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Argenta-Oreana has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Maroa-Forsyth, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-6.
Argenta-Oreana was taken down by Maroa-Forsyth 48-15 when the teams last played back in November of 2021. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Argenta-Oreana was down 31-7.
