It was a good run, but the Luther Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 70-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Portledge. Luther has struggled against Portledge recently, as their game on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Luther lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tristan Elcock. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Hugine, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Luther's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Portledge, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Luther will be playing at home against Stony Brook at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Portledge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. Anthony's at 5:15 p.m. on January 21st. Hopefully St. Anthony's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday.
