Basketball Recap: Klein Oak Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Klein Oak hadn't done well against Klein Collins recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Klein Oak Panthers walked away with a 51-43 win over the Klein Collins Tigers. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Tigers are ranked 89th).

Klein Oak's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maci Mote, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 19 points and five assists. Mote's evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiana Vega, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 17 points and six boards.

Despite the loss, Klein Collins saw an underclassman step up: sophomore A'Niyah Harmon went 7 of 16 on her way to 20 points. That was a full 46.5% of Klein Collins' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Hailey Neal was another key player, putting up six points.

Klein Oak has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Klein Collins, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-4.

Klein Oak wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-40 loss against Tomball on the 13th. As for Klein Collins, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 34-32 defeat against Tomball Memorial on the 13th.
