The Wheeler Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Killingly Redmen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Killingly took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Wheeler, who comes in off a win.
Wheeler scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Wednesday. They skirted past Guilford 56-54. The victory was familiar territory for Wheeler who now have three in a row.
Meanwhile, Killingly fought the good fight in their overtime match against Putnam on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Clippers 67-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Wheeler's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Killingly, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Wheeler, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-36 loss to Killingly in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Wheeler avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
