The Alhambra Lions can finally bid farewell to their 14-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Maryvale 53-6 at home. Alhambra's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last seven games.
Alhambra's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keshaun Holmes, who rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Rwanyamugabo, who rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
Alhambra's win bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Maryvale, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alhambra will face off against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Washington is ranked 176th, while Alhambra is ranked 197th). As for Maryvale, they will head out on the road to face off against Deer Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Deer Valley will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
