After a string of four wins, the Warrensburg Burgers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. The match between them and North Warren Central wasn't particularly close, with Warrensburg falling 60-46. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Warrensburg in their matchups with North Warren Central: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Warrensburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Steve Schloss. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points. Schloss is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 16 games he's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Warren Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Horge, who scored 22 points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Horge has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Tyrell, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Warrensburg's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for North Warren Central, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.
Warrensburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for North Warren Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Schroon Lake at 3:00 p.m. on February 11th. North Warren Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Schroon Lake likes a good challenge.
