Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Forsyth should expect quite the challenge on Friday. Ava and Forsyth go head to head at 7:00 PM in their first playoff matchup of the year. Forsyth come in off of seven low-scoring performances in a row, a trend the squad is obviously eager to reverse.
Ava might be getting used to good results now that the team has eight wins in a row. They put the hurt on Willow Springs with a sharp 32-6 victory. Ava had a senior duo take command as Caleb Johnson picked up 38 yards on the ground and accumulated 110 passing yards and Stephen Copeland rushed for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns. That makes it four straight good games in a row from Johnson.
Meanwhile, Forsyth have been struggling to pick up a win, with their match against Buffalo last Friday making it nine winless games in a row. Forsyth were completely outmatched, falling 7-54 to Buffalo. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
Ava's victory lifted them to 8-1 while Forsyth's loss dropped them down to 0-9. In Ava's victory, senior Caleb Johnson picked up 38 yards on the ground and accumulated 110 passing yards and senior Stephen Copeland rushed for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns. We'll see if Forsyth have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
