The Chesapeake Bay Hawks will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Loch Raven Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Chesapeake beat Carver A&T 43-37. The win was just what Chesapeake needed coming off of a 70-41 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Loch Raven put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Parkville 62-27 at home. Given Loch Raven's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Parkville is ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Loch Raven's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Meona Boykin, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Maya Gordon was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five steals and two blocks.
Chesapeake's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-8. As for Loch Raven, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Chesapeake was taken down by Loch Raven 64-22 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Chesapeake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
