Kentlake hasn't had much luck against Enumclaw recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falcons will head out to square off against the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Kentlake has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Kentlake is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 28 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Auburn Mountainview on Friday. They lost 12-1 to the Lions.
Kentlake saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Brown, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Enumclaw waltzed into their game on Friday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Titans a 16-0 shutout. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Nadia Flaherty made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Flaherty was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Otero, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Harris, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Enumclaw kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 16 consecutive contests.
Enumclaw's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Kentlake, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kentlake has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Enumclaw struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Kentlake couldn't quite get it done against Enumclaw in their previous meeting back in April as they fell 6-1. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
