Coronado took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over the Foothill Falcons. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row dating back to last season.
Sarah Lopez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alohi Mundon, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bailey Goldberg, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.
Coronado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill only posted an OBP of .333.
Looking ahead, Coronado will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Bishop Gorman at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Foothill, they will face off against Liberty at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
