Last Thursday, Newark Memorial made easy work of Mission San Jose and carried off a 19-3 victory. Considering the Cougars have won three matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Addyson Waterhouse made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.

In other batting news, Andrea Tall was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Chloe Hastings, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Newark Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission San Jose only posted a batting average of .150.
Meanwhile, James Logan had just enough and edged out Galena 4-3 on Friday.
Gabriella Garcia and Nevaeh Hall-Flores did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Hall-Flores scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Hall-Flores is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
Newark Memorial's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for James Logan, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Newark Memorial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like James Logan struggles in that department as they've averaged .418. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
