The Ferndale Wildcats will head out to take on the Arcata Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Ferndale knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Arcata likes a good challenge.
Arcata's offense is going to have their work cut out for them on Saturday: Ferndale hadn't allowed a single point the last six times they've hit the field. The Wildcats really took it to McKinleyville for the full four quarters, racking up a 79-0 win. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Prescott Langer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 114 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tanner Pidgeon, who rushed for 43 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ferndale was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 461 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Ferndale didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Tristen Titus, Pidgeon, Langer, and Rolland Mcclurg picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Arcata made off with a 13-12 victory over Hoopa Valley. The 13-point effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The win made it two in a row for Arcata and bumps their season record up to 3-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.5 points over those games. As for Ferndale, their record now sits at 6-0.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground. Ferndale has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 300.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Arcata struggles in that department as they've been averaging 273.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Ferndale didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Arcata when the teams last played back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 27-21 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Tigers' Luke Lemke, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, and also threw for 219 yards and one touchdown. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Wildcats still be able to contain Lemke? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
