The Kit Carson Wildcats will face off against the Elbert Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Elbert took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Kit Carson, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Kit Carson strolled past Hanover with points to spare, taking the game 41-27. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Among those leading the charge was Josiah Irwin, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Kit Carson is 4-2 when Irwin posts ten or more rebounds, but 7-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Junior Farmer, who posted eight points and six boards.
Meanwhile, Elbert unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Cheyenne Wells by a score of 40-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since December 17, 2024.
Kit Carson will need to focus on slowing down Eli Cornell, one of several Elbert players who made an impact when they last played. He had 14 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Cornell is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. Caleb Cornell was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 11 points and five steals.
Elbert's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Kit Carson, their win bumped their record up to 11-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Kit Carson has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Elbert struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Kit Carson took a serious blow against Elbert in their previous meeting back in January, falling 48-14. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Elbert's Ethan Tesman, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 14 points along with six assists and four steals.
