Ava Gallegos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Madison Martin was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianna Jaimez, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Mesa Verde kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Rio Vista narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Vacaville Christian 6-5.
The team relied heavily on Taylor Bledsoe, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Zoee Dewey also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Mesa Verde's record is now 9-3. As for Rio Vista, their record now sits at 5-8.
Rio Vista's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mesa Verde has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Rio Vista, though, as they've been averaging 11.3 hits. Given Mesa Verde's sizable advantage in that area, the Rams will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mesa Verde might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Rio Vista in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Mavericks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
