After four games on the road, Springfield is heading back home. They will take on the Napoleon Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Springfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Last Friday, Springfield ended up a good deal behind Bowling Green and lost 62-44.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Aaron Adams, who scored 11 points. Camren Whitmire was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Springfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Napoleon had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.4 points), and they went ahead and made it eight last Friday. They rang in the new year with a 61-54 win over Northview. Given Napoleon's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Northview is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Springfield's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Napoleon, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Springfield barely slipped by Napoleon in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 48-47. Does Springfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Napoleon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
