Baseball Game Preview: St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders vs. Rocori Spartans

The St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders will square off against the Rocori Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Cloud Cathedral's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Rocori's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Rocori will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: St. Cloud Cathedral extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over St. Agnes. That looming 19-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Crusaders yet this season.

Charlie Dolan looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Caden Johnson was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Jacob Oliver was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

St. Cloud Cathedral always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Agnes only posted an OBP of .400.

Meanwhile, Rocori suffered their biggest loss since April 18, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against Alexandria, falling 10-3.

Tyler Prom was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Noah Olmscheid, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

St. Cloud Cathedral's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Rocori, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

St. Cloud Cathedral skirted past Rocori 4-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
