In what's become a running theme this season, the Boone Central Cardinals gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Centura with a sharp 56-34 win. Given Boone Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Centura is ranked 188th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Centura's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cayden Anderson, who scored 13 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Anderson grabbed two or more steals. Barrett Fries was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two blocks.
Boone Central pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Centura, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boone Central will take on Northwest at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Centura, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Arcadia/Loup City at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Arcadia/Loup City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Friday.
