The Northern Guilford Nighthawks will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Grimsley Whirlies at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Northern Guilford gave up the first points last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They really took it to Western Guilford for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-14 victory at home. With Northern Guilford ahead 28-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Dwight Hall was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 203 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Hall was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Jaden Mcinnis was another key contributor, rushing for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Grimsley put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Page 54-0 at home. Fans of Grimsley have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Faizon Brandon and Mitchell Summers were among the main playmakers for Grimsley as the former threw for 303 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes and the latter rushed for 114 yards and five touchdowns on only nine carries. Summers hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrell Anderson, who picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Northern Guilford's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Grimsley, their win was their ninth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Northern Guilford was taken down by Grimsley 56-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Northern Guilford, Ryan Stephens (who threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
