The Ridgeland Titans will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Meridian Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ridgeland waltzed into their game Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Starkville with a 43-39 victory.
Ridgeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Phil Nelson led the charge by scoring 15 points. The contest was Nelson's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stevent Watkins, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Meridian faced Columbus in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Meridian came out on top against Columbus by a score of 55-47 on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for Meridian who now have four in a row.
Ridgeland has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Meridian, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
