The Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks will square off against the Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Miller School of Albemarle made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fredericksburg Christian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Mavericks fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday.

Emelia DelCarmen was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Lily Pallante was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Lani Massarella, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association earned a 7-3 win over Trinity Episcopal on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Like Miller School of Albemarle, Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association also got a great game from a two-way player: Sophia Peterson. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Peterson was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Reagan Litchford was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Madison Machotka was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.
Miller School of Albemarle's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.
Miller School of Albemarle came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association in their previous meeting on April 1st, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
