Durango had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Grand Junction Central Warriors with a sharp 12-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jack Englund made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Englund was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Austin Romero was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Dawson McInnes also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Durango kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand Junction Central only managed eight hits.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 7-3. As for Grand Junction Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Looking ahead, Durango will head out to challenge Pagosa Springs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Demons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Grand Junction Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Palisade at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
