With a playoff game on the line, the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks rose to the challenge  on Wednesday. They skirted past the Sailors  63-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
 Murrieta Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but  Brady Jones led the charge by  dropping  a double-double on 18 points and ten  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Collin Ingram, who  scored 17 points along with six  rebounds and three  steals.
 Murrieta Valley is  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Newport Harbor, they have  not been sharp recently as the team's  lost three of their last four games,  which put a noticeable dent in their 22-7 record this season.
 Murrieta Valley will head out on the road to  square off against  Chaminade at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. One thing working in Murrieta Valley's favor is that they have posted big  point totals  in their last 18 contests. Newport Harbor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
