Basketball Recap: Fort Wayne Northrop Takes a Loss

If Fort Wayne Northrop was feeling good fresh off their 73-36 takedown of Fort Wayne Canterbury last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins fell 65-53 to the Homestead Spartans on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while the Spartans are ranked 31st).

Despite the loss, Fort Wayne Northrop still got an impressive performance from Donlaray Reese, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 20 points. The game was Reese's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Hughes, who posted ten points.

Fort Wayne Northrop has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Homestead, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4-1.

Fort Wayne Northrop will welcome Woodlan at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Woodlan will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Fort Wayne Northrop surely won't give up without a fight. As for Homestead, they will take on Columbia City at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
