Basketball Recap: Agoura's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but Agoura unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 78-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chaminade Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Eagles are ranked 33rd).

Chaminade had a senior duo take command as Jonas Thurman went 13 for 22 on his way to 35 points and six rebounds and Koby Nichols posted 17 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Thurman has scored at least a third of Chaminade's points. Andrew Cordero was another key player, putting up seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Agoura's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Chaminade, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.

Agoura will take on Burroughs in a tournament on Thursday. As for Chaminade, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Eagle Rock at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chaminade is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season.
