They took  a  3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens. If the Mavericks were looking for revenge after losing  3-2 to the Ravens when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
 While La Costa Canyon ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 22-25, 25-17,  25-18.
 Owen Shaw paced La Costa Canyon's offense, picking up 16 kills. Shaw got some help from  Legend Esplin and his 40 assists.
La Costa Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Canyon Crest Academy, the  win keeps they at an undefeated 29-0.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, La Costa Canyon and Torrey Pines will shake off the rust and duke it out  at 6:00  p.m.  on April 8. Torrey Pines will roll in looking for their  tenth straight  victory, something La Costa Canyon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against San Dieguito Academy at 7:00  p.m.  on April 9.
