Softball Recap: Mark Keppel Snags Tenth Victory in Last 12 Games

Mark Keppel won against Montebello on Tuesday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Aztecs' pitcher stepped up to hand the San Gabriel Matadors a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Aztecs, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Robyn Guitron made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avigail Navarro, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Maddie Quach, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Mark Keppel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
