The Quilcene Rangers will head out on the road to face off against the Northwest Christian Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northwest Christian will be up against a hot Quilcene team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Rangers put the hurt on La Conner with a sharp 15-3 victory on Saturday.
Oliver Hopkins and Eli Allen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hopkins pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Allen kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hopkins went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Allen went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. With that strong performance, Hopkins is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Love, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Evans, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Quilcene was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest Christian). They blew past Darrington 26-12 on Friday.
Marshall Guyer made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Guyer was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
Quilcene's record now sits at 5-2. As for Northwest Christian, their record is now 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Quilcene has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northwest Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Quilcene was able to grind out a solid win over Northwest Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rangers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
