The Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 56-18 defeat at the hands of Legacy Early College. While losing is never fun, Gray Collegiate Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Legacy Early College is ranked second).
Kadence Walker-lee was Gray Collegiate Academy's leading scorer, having posted six points. Walker-lee also led the team in rebounds with six.
Diamond Tatum took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Legacy Early College's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mela Hollaway, who scored 13 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Janyia Williams, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Gray Collegiate Academy's loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-11. As for Legacy Early College, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-7.
Gray Collegiate Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Cardinal Newman at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Cardinal Newman has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Legacy Early College, they will head out on the road to face off against Grace Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Grace Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,260 points over their last 18 contests.
