The Excel Panthers came tearing into Monday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they left with even more momentum. They snuck past Leroy with a 64-60 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaquan Scott, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. Scott continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Crumedy, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Excel's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Leroy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Excel will head out on the road to face off against Millry at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Millry will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 395th, while Excel is ranked 189th). Leroy will be home for the holidays to greet Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jackson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 487 points over their last seven games.
