Softball Recap: Mt. Carmel Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Mt. Carmel barely beat Chalmette the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mt. Carmel Cubs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Chalmette Owls an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Mt. Carmel's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Chalmette, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will venture away from home to face off against John Curtis Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Carmel's pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so John Curtis Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Chalmette, they will take on Hanson Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
