Softball Recap: St. Scholastica Wins Going Away Against Pine

St. Scholastica made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Pine, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Doves put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 20-3 victory on Monday. The Doves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by nine runs or more this season.

Karsen Boyet made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Boyet was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Gassen, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Aubrianne Kavanaugh was another key player, going 3-for-4 with six RBI and one run.

The win got St. Scholastica back to even at 9-9. As for Pine, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Scholastica will head out to take on Covington at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pine, they will venture away from home to square off against Bogalusa at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
