With a playoff win on the line, Oskaloosa rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the Inman Inman Teutons as they made off with an 8-1 win. Considering the Bears have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lily Pullen made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Keirstyn Mitchell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Parris Marsh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
Oskaloosa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Inman only posted a batting average of .130.
The victory (which was Oskaloosa's sixth in a row) raised their record to 22-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Inman, their loss dropped their record down to 8-1-2.
