Jurupa Valley is 0-10 against Ramona since May of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Jurupa Valley Jaguars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ramona Rams at 3:15 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Jurupa Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against La Sierra, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Jurupa Valley put the hurt on La Sierra with a sharp 13-1 win on Tuesday. The Jaguars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Sophia Padilla, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Yazmeen Ruiz was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Jurupa Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ramona, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let Norte Vista get on the board and left with a 24-0 victory on Tuesday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Kaytlin Stephens was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Olivia Chavez was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Daisy Villegas, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
The win got Jurupa Valley back to even at 4-4. As for Ramona, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
