Western Illinois Valley - South recap October 29, 2013
Jacob Smith of Carrollton ran for the longest rushing play in Western Illinois Valley - South this season against Routt Catholic last week. Smith ran for 63 yards on the play and finished with 89 on the day as his team bested the Rockets.
North Greene made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,622 from 11,257. The advance stemmed from a 39-0 victory over Unity last week.
Luke Palan was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 128 yards as Carrollton topped Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia. Smith also contributed to the rushing game with 89 yards on the ground.
Greenfield/Northwestern's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Isaac Masters has thrown for 1,143 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Riley Marsh has 24 catches for 429 yards.
Calhoun led the league in scoring this week by notching 69 points on Illinois School for the Deaf.
