Marian Catholic is 1-9 against Schuylkill Haven since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. On Monday, Marian Catholic made easy work of Mahanoy Area and carried off a 14-6 win. The victory continues a trend for Marian Catholic in their matchups with Mahanoy Area: they've now won nine in a row.

Emily Upanavage made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Upanavage was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Marian Catholic let Malina Letcher and Hailey Treskolasky run wild. Letcher went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Treskolasky went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of DeAnna Pugh, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one double.
Marian Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Schuylkill Haven suffered their biggest loss since April 3rd on Tuesday. They came up short against Williams Valley, falling 16-1. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Schuylkill Haven saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teagan Wehr, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Wehr is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played.
Marian Catholic's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Schuylkill Haven, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Marian Catholic hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Schuylkill Haven struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Marian Catholic suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Schuylkill Haven when the teams last played on April 14th. Can Marian Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
