Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smith Valley). They took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 55-16 win over the Mineral County Serpents. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bulldogs have posted since December 15, 2023.

Mineral County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raeane Johnson, who posted six points and six rebounds. Chesney Wilson was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Smith Valley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.7 points per game. As for Mineral County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smith Valley will host Sage Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Smith Valley's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Sage Ridge's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Mineral County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Virginia City at 6:00 p.m. Virginia City will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Mineral County surely won't give up without a fight.
