Softball Recap: Bloom-Carroll Picks Up Seventh Straight Win on the Road

Bloom-Carroll lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bishop Watterson, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Bulldogs blew past the Eagles 11-4 on Friday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Bloom-Carroll got a massive performance out of Madelyn Gates, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Grefe, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bloom-Carroll kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Bloom-Carroll pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Bishop Watterson, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloom-Carroll will host Liberty Union at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Lions will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bishop Watterson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Hartley at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
