While Hillsboro didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Kemp Yellowjackets with a sharp 12-2 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Valeria Garcia and Olivia Cornelius- Mathis did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Cornelius- Mathis scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Garcia a new career-high in RBI (three). Laci Forns was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Hillsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .704. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win (which was Hillsboro's third in a row) raised their record to 8-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.3 runs. As for Kemp, they dropped their record down to 0-3-1 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Hillsboro has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Maypearl on the 1st. As for Kemp, they will face off against Lindale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lindale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
