Beechwood is a perfect 4-0 against Lloyd Memorial since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Beechwood Tigers will host the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts at 5:00 p.m. Beechwood's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Lloyd Memorial's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Last Wednesday, Beechwood earned a 6-3 win over Boone County. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won four in a row.
Caleb Arrasmith looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Tyler Fryman was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavinn Ollier, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, everything went Lloyd Memorial's way against Newport on Wednesday as Lloyd Memorial made off with a 22-1 win.
Conner Drake was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Drake was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, KJ Nussbaum looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Hayden Hungler, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Luke Landers was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Lloyd Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newport only posted an OBP of .222.
Beechwood's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Lloyd Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Beechwood took their victory against Lloyd Memorial when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 19-1. Will Beechwood repeat their success, or does Lloyd Memorial have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
